Day 4 - Remember the Sabbath Day, Keep It Sacred

We are entrusted with a holy responsibility: to exercise dominion, to nurture abundance, to propagate, and to fill the earth

We are entrusted with a holy responsibility: to exercise dominion, to nurture abundance, to propagate, and to fill the earth.

The observance of a Sabbath is a common thread found in the cultures of antiquity. The recognition and observance of a Sabbath, a designated day of rest for man and the land, can be better understood when one comprehends the true significance of work.

While resting is an inherent part of human existence, purposefully designed for our well-being, work serves as the pivotal point from which human endeavors acquire a sacred significance.

Consider these three interconnected points:

  1. The sanctity of work - recognize the inherent value beyond mere practical performance outcomes. Approach work with reverence and a sense of higher calling.

  2. Find sanctity within our labor - our efforts serve as the pivotal point from which human efforts acquire a sacred significance.

  3. Sanctify others - by fulfilling our professional duties, we actualize the potential to elevate and uplift the well-being and holistic growth of individuals and the world at large, encompassing ecological and spiritual dimensions.

Now, my friends, this is the essence of why resting is deeply embedded in human nature and designed for our benefit. As we engage in our divine work throughout the six days of the week, mirroring the Creator's own actions, we also set aside a day. It is a time to disconnect from phones and distractions, release ourselves from obligations, and savor the fruits of our labor by embracing rest.

You deserve it.

Reflection:

  1. How do I approach my work with reverence?

  2. Does my labor reflect sanctity?

  3. How does my labor affect others?

Practice:

Resting can be a challenge for some while effortless for others. However, I encourage you to make a dedicated commitment to rest for the upcoming four Saturdays. Embrace a day without consumption or purchases, focusing solely on yourself, your family, and connecting with the Creator. Witness how this simple act has the potential to transform your life in profound ways.
