Day 21 - Proof Of Work

Embrace grueling work.

Reject the lifestyle of the "four-hour work week" and embrace the value of hard work. In our previous discussions, we delved into the deep significance of the Sabbath as a divine gift, emphasizing the importance of rest and rejuvenation. We have previously explored the concept of the Sabbath as a gift from God, promoting rest and rejuvenation. However, in a society where the idea of a four-hour workweek is celebrated, work is one of the most ultimate pursuits.

When I first got into bitcoin I didn’t realize how much I would resonate with the various catch phrases and memes often repeated by the passionate community. “Don’t trust, verify” or “fix the money, fix the world” are a couple of my personal favorites. But the idea behind “Proof of Work” reigns supreme and is a principle that Ive followed intuitively for most of my life.

In the NFL, they say there are no shortcuts to greatness.

Famed five-time Super Bowl winning Coach Brian Belichick says, “Success comes through consistency”, which is another way of acknowledging the proof of work required to be successful on the field.

The teams and players who exercised, practiced and studied with the most consistency were the most successful. In the world of bitcoin, there is a process called ASIC mining that is quite straightforward. Miners use energy and resources to accumulate hashpower, which helps them find blocks in the blockchain. The more hashpower they have, the higher their chances of earning bitcoin block rewards.

In fasting, there are similarly no shortcuts. Day in and day out of drinking only water is what generates the results one sets out to achieve. Whether that is detoxing, breaking bad habits or resetting one’s spiritual focus. The proof of work in this fast is demonstrated in the daily progress photo and stats that I publish, despite how I am personally feeling. Granted, this is a different kind of “work” which requires flexing different muscles, the results still speak for themselves.

Reflection:

In what areas of your life are you dissatisfied with the results you are generating?

Practice:

Examine the “work” or lack of work you are investing into a desired outcome and consider how you can make adjustments to produce the results you’re aiming for. Challenge yourself to prove it.

Not a medical professional, my advice should not replace medical advice or treatment. Seek professional medical advice if you have specific health concerns, especially when planning to fast. Any fasting advice I provide is general and should be followed alongside personal health guidelines and consultation with a healthcare provider.
